Vacation Bible School Showcase

Attention all Vacation Bible School Directors and Volunteers

The Walterboro District Connectional Ministries presents the 2012 VBS Showcase.

Participants chose either Operation Overboard or No Friend Like Jesus: Get Connected curriculum.

The trainings will be held at Church of the Palms UMC, Okatie from 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Lay Leadership Orientation Trainings

If you are a new officer, lay person or pastor that wants to be refreshed, if there are areas that you have questions about or if you want to become a stronger leader, then you will want to register for this event.  

Please have your Church Office fax the Registration Form (below) to the Walterboro District Office (843) 549-6073 or email it to wadist@umcsc.org by November 10, to let us know how many guidelines to order for persons attending each training session from your church.  Guidelines booklets are $3.00 each.

Listening Sessions Scheduled for the Walterboro District

Purpose:

       1)      To inform local churches of the new conference structure and how it relates to the local church

       2)      To inform local churches of the role of the District Connectional Ministries (DCM)

       3)      Listen to the concerns of local churches- sharing areas of ministry in which they need assistance

       4)      Listen to the celebrations of local churches- sharing areas of ministry in which they are effective

Lay Leadership Training 2011

The Walterboro District Connectional Ministries will provide Lay Leadership Training for all officers elected to serve their local church in 2012
All trainings will be held from 3:00pm -5:00pm. 


Training dates and locations:


Walterboro Cluster- November 13 at New Life UMC, Walterboro
Hampton Cluster- November 20 at Hampton UMC, Hampton
St. George Cluster- December 4 at Sand Hill UMC, Ridgeville
Beaufort Cluster- December 11- Carteret Street UMC. Beaufort

Interdenominational Theological Center Certificate in Theology Program

The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) is offering a Certificate Program of Theological education for ministers, lay persons, and all those who want to gain more knowledge in different areas of ministry.  The Certificate In Theology Program is designed to provide an organized, structured series of courses for ministers and lay persons who want to improve their knowledge and preparedness for ministry.

Because this is a “Certificate” Program, all interested persons, with or without college degrees, are invited to participate. The program consists of one (1) year of study during which a student may complete 8 courses. Two or more courses will be offered during each term. Each course lasts approximately one month and is offered in the order listed in the attached brochure.

Conference Connectional Ministries

The SC Annual Conference met on Aug. 20th at Virginia Winguard UMC to take the next step in establishing the Conference Connectional Ministries which is made up members from all 12 District Connectional Ministries. 

The Judge Cynthia Williams was elected Covener, Rev. Narcie Jeter, Co-Covener and Rev. Steven King, Secretary.

The CCM is organized into four ministry areas that align with the District Connectional Ministries , Advocacy, Lay Leadership, Discipleship and Outreach. 

A Covener was elected for each ministry area and are as follows:  Advocacy, Rev. Amiri Hooker, Lay Leadership, Dr. Joseph Heyward, Discipleship, Rev. Kristen Richardson-Frick and Outreach, Mrs. Rhonda Jones.
